Barnett has been building crossbows for almost 40 years. In that time they have produced several innovative models such as the Commando crossbow which featured a built in cocking lever.

Brand new for 2008 is the Predator crossbow. It features a shoot through foot stirrup that increases the power stroke to 16". The long power stroke of the Predator crossbow along with its 175 lb draw weight produces speeds up to 375 Feet Per Second. The Predator crossbow features Barnett's new AVI limb system and a re-designed, high-velocity cam/cable system.

This quad limb powerhouse is designed with one outcome in mind, deliver the bolt to the target with devastating accuracy and speed. Redefined, the Quad 400 is everything you expect from its predecessor and a whole lot more. Some key design features have been changed and optimized to create the ultimate hunting tool. New features like the high density gas assist composite stock (a first in the industry), a thumbhole grip, and a 151/2” power stroke are combined with a parallel limb design producing arrow speeds of over 345 feet per second. The high tech composite stock is lighter, more comfortable and contains an integrated cocking device attachment.
